It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Jeffrey Alan Greenberg, longtime ACE Board member, ACE attorney, and cherished friend. Jeff was a part of ACE for 25 years, and leaves behind a great hole in the fabric of our organization, and is a deep personal loss for us all. President Anna Lomax Wood shared her memories of Jeff.
In September UNESCO accredited the Association for Cultural Equity as a non-governmental organization providing advisory services to its 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). Bessie Jones was one of the most popular performers on the 1960s and '70s folk circuit, appearing usually at the helm of the Georgia Sea Island Singers at colleges, festivals, the Poor People's March on Washington, and Jimmy Carter's inauguration. At 1:30 am on December 5th, a friend and great Caribbean cultural leader was lost to us. Winston Fleary passed away on his home island of Carraicou. He was a folklorist, musician, activist and ambassador - and was and is an inspiration to all of us.

National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $27 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment’s first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $30,000 to the Association for Cultural Equity to support the collaborative and ethical repatriation of archived Native American field recordings. Art Works is the Arts Endowment’s principal grantmaking program.
